Request for Qualifications: The Port of Seattle’s Public Art program is seeking one (1) visual/multi-disciplinary/light artist or artist teams to submit their qualifications to be considered for this permanent art commission within Seattle Tacoma International Airport’s B Concourse. The work must also consider the aesthetic of the facility and redevelopment design. Proposed artworks must also be thoughtful in regard to long term maintenance and conservation. The work must be appropriate for public presentation considering the wide range of visitors to the airport. The restroom renovation project includes four (4) locations in B Concourse. The estimated opening date for this restroom is Q4 2023. The public art completion date is flexible to the project completion date. Key Information - Exiting Wing Wall • Measurements: 4’10 7/8” width x 7’6” height • Good opportunity for low-relief sculptural work (works must be compliant with ADA standards) • Plywood backing • No outlet available •
Directional light placed above art wall. • The stainless-steel base is not part of the scope of work. • Visible as you exit the restroom. • Artwork will have to be low-relief and cannot stick out of the wall. • Busy location, passengers and employees will enter the restroom with suitcases, cleaning cart etc.... Key Information - Faux Window • Measurements: 4’0” width x 7’ 2 1/2” height • 4” recessed niche (maximum) with Epoxy paint finish. Artwork should be flushed with the wall. • Plywood backing • Power/data available. • Directional light placed above art wall. • The tile base is not part of the scope of work. • Busy location, passengers and employees will enter the restroom with suitcases, cleaning cart etc....
