Sexual offenders may present a high risk to re-offend and commit new crimes.  In an effort to minimize the risk of re-offense and enhance public safety, the Department of Corrections (DOC) has implemented a polygraph-testing program for certain Sex Offenders.  The purpose of the program is to improve the treatment, monitoring, and accountability of Sex Offenders.
The clinical polygraph examination is used as a monitoring tool for Sex Offenders on Division of Community Corrections (DCC) community supervision and provides more information to evaluate the offender’s risk factors and need for specialized conditions of community supervision.  It is also intended to enhance public safety by identifying criminal behavior technical violations associated with the offender’s risk of re-offense.
The clinical polygraph examination is used in conjunction with treatment to increase treatment efficacy.  These examinations provide information to evaluate the deviant behavior and treatment progress of offenders.  The clinical polygraph examination is used to deter Sex Offenders from deceiving their therapist and/or supervising probation and parole agent.
DOC may request a variety of clinical polygraph examinations at DCC offices located throughout the state including: sex history, instant offense, maintenance, and monitoring examinations. Additional training or consulting services may be requested of the Contractor.  In addition, court or administrative hearing testimony must be provided when
