These scanners have been purchased in the past and are being requested as an effort to standardize the Dental Department of all the same brand products across NY Harbor. The recently published review of the intraoral scanners conducted by Institute of Digital Dentistry identified Trios scanners as superior to other brands on the market based on speed, accuracy of scans and additional features including caries detection, patient monitoring and patient specific movements. The intra-oral scanner will allow dental clinic to utilize new technology, providing an alternative to analogue impression making. Digital scanner eliminates the need for analogue impression making for crowns, bridges, implants and dentures, where dental impression material is substituted with series of high-resolution images. The files, which then are formatted into an STL file, are transferred to the dental laboratory for dental restoration fabrication.
