Summary DetailsVGN Resources Group Inc. (VGN) will be the Program Administrator for projects under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food's (Ministry) extension programming for environment and climate change. This NOI and project is administered by VGN on behalf of the Ministry.Notice is hereby given that the Province of British Columbia, as represented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food (through the program administered by VGN Resources Group, Inc.) is contemplating making a direct award of a contract E.S. CropConsult (the “ Supplier”).The high-level details of the contemplated contract are generally described below.The contracted services will include developing research manuals and trial summaries, organizing field days, supporting producers in pre-season planning and trial design and providing in-season support including data collection and guidance.The project is a continuation of work done previously beginning in fall 2022. Headlands as a Beneficial Insect Attractant in Cabbage ​Evaluating Cover Crop Mixes Best Suited to Provide a Habitat for Predatory Ground Beetles ​Interseeding Cover Crops in Broccoli to Improve Soil Health ​Liming to Improve Nutrient Availability and Potato Yield ​Stubby Root Nematode Control Using Mustard Biofumigation ​No-till Cropping of Cabbage to Improve Soil Health Two to four new topics/farms will be added in fall 2024, based on producers needs and alignment with BMP’s related to climate and environmental sustainability.Contracted services will include: ​Provide support over three seasons to each producer, with the level of support diminishing incrementally over time. ​Assist farmers in choosing the topic and scope of research to ensure it is achievable and relevant. Topic will ideally remain flexible, while addressing priorities set in the REP, priorities of relevant commodity associations, and Industry Specialists. ​Advise the farmer on matters relating to the pre-season preparation of the trial and assist with data collection throughout the growing season. ​As new farms are added, create Research Manuals specific to each farms research objective and provide Trial Summaries at the close of the season. ​Conduct sampling following SHAP protocol.
