Project: STATEWIDE SCHOOL BASED DROP-OUT PREVENTION SERVICES FOR AT-RISK MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS Ref. #: HSS-23-021 Type: RFP Status: Open Open Date: May 15th 2023, 7:00 AM EDT Questions Due Date: Jul 14th 2023, 11:30 PM EDT Close Date: Aug 7th 2023, 1:00 PM EDT Days Left: 4 Project Description:The Division of Social services is seeking a vendor to provide statewide school-based drop-out prevention services to at risk middle school youth. The vendor must provide services to “TANF” or “TANF-like children” (children receiving DSS benefits). The selected vendor will also provide a community service project for each youth to complete 10 hours of community services for the school year. The selected vendor must develop or acquire a curriculum that can be taught during the school year for sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth graders. The vendor must establish relationships with different school districts to set up classes to provide: • academic remediation/tutoring • career/technical education •
case management • contingency management • counseling • mentoring/advocacy • monitoring attendance • parent outreach • youth development • additional services (e.g., childcare center/parenting classes, school-based health center) • Field trips • Teenage pregnancy prevention • College Tours • Transitioning into High school • Youth Leadership development • Anti-bullying information • Social Media awareness • Self Esteem development • Goal setting • Career planning • How to choose colleges and careers The selected vendor must develop or acquire and assessment tool or the students to assess their needs and develop a plan for the students to achieve milestones during the class and tenure in the program. In addition to the services provided to the middle school youth the selected vendor must provide services to their parents creating a two-generation approach to service delivery. The vendor must provide case management with the family to address: • Toxic Stress • Financial Literacy counseling • How to apply for college for your children • Parenting classes with a focus on pre-teens • How to be an advocate for your child’s education • Development of social capital • Soft/life skills • Resume development for parents • counseling • mentoring/advocacy The selected vendor can also work in conjunction with the TANF employment and training vendors to coordinate services between the parent and the children.
