Prevailing Wage: This contract calls for the construction of a “public work,” within the meaning of the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act (820 ILCS 130/0.01 et seq.) (“the Act”). The Act requires contractors and subcontractors to pay laborers, workers and mechanics performing services on public works projects no less than the “prevailing rate of wages” (hourly cash wages plus fringe benefits), in the county where the work is performed. Minority/Women Business Enterprise: It is the intent of Champaign Community School District Unit #4 to utilize Minority and Women Business Enterprises (MBE/WBE) in the construction of the school facilities in the District. In this regard, the District encourages minority and female participation as Prime Contractors, as well as for Prime Contractors to utilize available resources to identify such businesses, and recruit them to work as Subcontractors and suppliers on the Project.
