Install Gutters, Downspouts, Trench Drains, Replace Flooring Tiles & Replace Cedar Shake Roofing at Visitor Contact Station Temporary removal of approximately 220 linear feet of lava rock wall façade (inside vertical face only). Lava rock to be reinstalled in same location, dispose of old mortar. Removal of approximately 170 linear feet of wooden trim on the bottom of buildings. Removal and disposal of approximately 2,500 square feet ceramic floor tiles and underlying adhesive resulting in smooth surface in preparation for a new tile floor. The park will move all bookstore furnishings prior to removal of bookstore floor tiles. Cut-in approximately 170 linear feet of trench (not to exceed 12 inches wide) in the existing concrete apron surrounding the building for the new grated trench drains / buried drain pipe. Depth of trench shall be determined by the Contractor to achieve minimum slopes for the new grated trench drain. Temporary removal of approximately 25 linear feet of lava
rock wall and skirting for installation of drain pipe to daylight. Lava rock to be reinstalled in same location, dispose of old mortar. Install approximately 200 linear feet of 4â€-5â€ wide seamless rain gutters on the building fascia around the entire perimeter of the visitor contact station. Gutters shall have Â1⁄2-inch drop per every 10 feet and have a flow direction as shown in the attached drawing. Gutters shall be connected to the downspouts as noted in the attached drawing. Gutters shall be a tan / beige color to match building color. Install and secure three (3) downspouts on the building in the locations shown in the attached drawing. Downspouts shall be tan / beige color to match gutters. The bottom of the downspouts shall be hydraulically connected to the grated trench drain and / or the buried drain pipe to daylight and shall not pose a hazard. Install approximately 140 linear feet of grated trench drain inserts in the locations as shown in the attached drawings, not to exceed 12 inches wide. Trench drains shall be sloped to drain as shown in the attached drawings. The Klassikdrain with Longitudinal Stainless Steel Grate (ADA) were submitted by the park as part of their market research, but the drain itself does not have to be stainless steel material. Connect the two (2) downspouts on the north end of the building directly into the trench drain on either side. The trench drain shall be made of a material that does not corrode or warp in the sun such as fiberglass, High-density polyethylene, aluminum, or stainless steel, and the grate surface must comply with the Architectural Barriers Act Accessibility Standards (ABAAS / ADA). The grating shall be removable to clean the trench insert of obstructions, and the top of the grating shall be installed flush / level with the top of the new exterior tile floor (CLIN 00040) so there are no lips, protrusions, or hazards, and so staff can sweep standing water from the tile floor into the trench drains. Install approximately 30 linear feet of buried drain pipe beneath the new tile floor on the south side of the building. The new drain pipe shall be PVC and it shall be hydraulically connected to the grated trench drains and downspout on the south end of the building before flowing to daylight. Install three (3) buried pipes to daylight as shown on the drawings. Pipes shall be made of PVC and installed through the lava rock wall and skirting. Pipes shall exit the skirting close to the ground so the park can cover with rocks to hide the pipe. The purpose of the buried pipes to daylight is to move rainwater via gravity flow from the roof to the gutters to the downspouts to the grated trench drains to the buried pipes to outside the lava rock wall for infiltration into the surrounding soils. Replace mortared lava rock wall and skirting after drain pipe is installed. Install approximately 2,500 square feet of 16â€ x 24â€ Unicom, Quarzite, Grey Ceramic Tile on all exterior surfaces within the lava rock perimeter wall and up to the two existing concrete walkways, and within the bookstore with open entry on the east side. Refer to Product Information. The Contractor shall install new tile on a smooth surface using a leveling course (if necessary) to drain water towards the new grated trench drain and / or away from the building. The Contractor shall use vendor recommended tile adhesive and grout material to install the tile in place. The top of the new tile shall be installed flush / level with the top of the new grated trench drain so there are no lips, protrusions, or hazards, and so staff can sweep standing water from the tile floor into the trench drains. Replace mortared lava rock façade on wall and install 170 linear feet of wooden trim around the bottom of the buildings, painted to match, after installation of new tile floor. Removal and disposal of the following items from the roof of the visitor contact station: Approximately 2,500 square feet of cedar wood shakes (including hip and ridge caps). The Contractor shall temporarily protect the one (1) ventilation pipe and temporarily remove the four (4) skylights and one (1) antennae for reinstallation after the new roof is installed. There are no gutters or downspouts connected to the roof of the building. While the roof is under construction, the Contractor shall cover and secure the roof with visqueen or other impermeable material in the event of wind / rain events. The contractor will be responsible for all building, equipment, and furnishings damaged as a result of leaks in the building while the roof is being replaced.
