ANNOUNCEMENT OF EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY Victim Advocate Prescott Police Department Hiring Range: $19.28 to $24.10 Pay Grade: 106 Full Pay Range: $19.28 to 28.92 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Deadline to Apply: 12/5/22 Position Summary: P rovide s support in the daily operations of the Victim Services Unit; advocates for victims; provides support services for victims of crime ; and serves as a liaison between victims of crime/witnesses to crime to the criminal justice process/system. Essential Duties: Coordinate s and work s with law enforcement, the C ity P rosecutor's office, C ity C ourt, outside agencies, and victims of crime ; conducts interviews with victims. A ssist s victims in completing petitions for court orders in securing protective orders and with filing compensation claims . Accompan ies victims to shelters and/or court ; inform s them of their constitutional and statutory mandated Crime Victims' Rights. Compile s data and review s related reports and correspondence related to
the Victim Services Unit . Coordinate s with community agencies and resources on behalf of Victim Services Unit to obtain services such as legal aid, counseling, shelter, emergency financial help, and employment. Serves as a liaison for witnesses and victims throughout the criminal justice process; provides emotional support. Document s and manage s case files . Keep s accurate statistical records of victim contacts . Conducts SART/IMT and YC-CCRT case reviews Participates in community events to promote services and resources. Attends mandatory training programs. Trains volunteers and matches to task. M aintain regular attendance. Perform s other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Education and/or Experience: No special educational requirement s but prefer a degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Counseling, Psychology, or a closely related field; two (2) years of experience working or interning/volunteering in the field of criminal justice, social work, crisis intervention, victim advocacy, or case management ; or any equivalent combination of education, experience , and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position. Licensing, Certification, and Other Requirements: Possess a valid Arizona driver's license. Knowledge of case management record keeping practices and procedures . Knowledge of community resources available in various situations including social services agencies, their locations , and their referral acceptance information . Skill in communicating, both verbally and in writing. Skill in using a personal computer and related software . Skill in making public presentations . Skill in develop ing and present ing informational and educational programs . Ability to be sensitive to the needs of crime victims. Ability to establish rapport with people of various ethnicities and socio-economic backgrounds. Ability to maintain confidentiality of victim information obtained in accordance with Arizona Revised Statutes . Ability to apply logic in a multi-tasking environment . Ability to comprehend and process new information quickly and accurately . Ability to perform duties and responsibilities independently . Ability to prepare clear and concise reports . Ability to maintain records and findings, documents, correspondence, and related files and records . Ability to respond to citizen requests in a courteous and effective manner . Ability to establish and maintain effective professional working relationships with law enforcement officers, community organizations, other City employees, state and local elected officials , and the public . Ability to deal with difficult people. Ability to listen . Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instruction s . Physical Demands And Working Conditions: Work is performed primarily in a standard C ity office environment and courtroom setting with some exposure to difficult and challenging personal circumstances. Posses s s ufficient personal mobility, flexibility, and physical reflexes to perform job duties. Safely lift s up to 20 pounds and is able to sit and work at a keyboard for an extended period of time , Possess capability to reduce exposure to risk in working with hostile, resistant, and unstable persons. Possess clarity of speech and hearing permitting ability to discern verbal instructions and communicate effectively on the telephone, in person, and in writing. Work is performed dealing with crisis situations that require making major decisions involving people, resources, and property , such as safe, secure, and stable work environment).
