Evaluate Plastic Residues in Animal Foods from Human Food By-Product ProcessingProposals should include that this contract specifies using a small-scale human food by-product processing system (hereafter referred to as the ‘system’) that mimics the type of equipment used in industry. In order to make quantification of Nano plastics possible, input food waste packaging will be replaced by plastics embedded with a known concentration of quantum dots. The system should run approximately 2 kg batches of human food by-products to minimize the use of quantum dot plastics (quantum dot plastics may be diluted up to 10:1 with standard plastic to allow for larger batches if this quantity is too small to be representative). The contractor shall be responsible for running approximately 30 batches through the system and properly cleaning the system between each batch to avoid contamination. The quantum dot films provided are limited to 65mm in width, so the contractor should consider how to scale food waste, packaging, and the system to accommodate this size constraint. Following each batch, the contractor will collect samples and send the samples to the FDA for
