This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued.The solicitation number is HHS-NIH-NIDA-(AG)-CSS-75N95020Q00086 and the solicitation is issued as a request for quotation (RFQ).ACQUISITION AUTHORITY This acquisition is for a commercial item or service and is conducted under the authority of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 13-Simplified Acquisition Procedures; FAR Subpart 13.5-Test Program for Certain Commercial Items; and FAR Part 12-Acquisition of Commercial Items, and is not expected to exceed the simplified acquisition threshold.The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect
through Federal Acquisition Circular 2020-05, dated March 30, 2020.CONTRACT TYPE The Government intends to award a firm fixed price purchase order for this requirement. NORTH AMERICAN INDUSTRY CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM (NAICS) CODEThe associated NAICS code for this requirement is 621399 Offices of All Other Miscellaneous Health Practitioners, size standard $8.0 dollars.BACKGROUNDThe National Institutes of Health (NIH) is the nation's leading medical research agency and the primary Federal agency whose mission is to seek fundamental knowledge about the nature and behavior of living systems and the application of that knowledge to enhance health, lengthen life, and reduce illness and disability, conducting, supporting and making medical discoveries that improve people's health and save lives. PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVESCurrently, NIA is in need of a Clinical Cardiologist. The objective of this requirement is to continue collaboration with a clinician who shall provide technical supervision of the HANDLS sonographer, manage the imaging protocol to be implemented on the MRVs, confirm uniform evaluations and provide interpretations of EKG and ECHO studies collected as part of the HANDLS study. An electrocardiogram is a test that checks for problems with the electrical activity of your heart. It can be used to detect a heart attack or to find the cause of unexplained chest pain or other symptoms of heart disease.
