Development of Workbook on Indigenous Exhibit Design and Artifact Care Solicitation ID: 808-24-241449 Status: Posted Contact Name: Michael- Gibbons Contact Number: 512-936-4198 Contact Email: michael.gibbons@thc.texas.gov Response Due Time: 2:00 PM Agency/Texas SmartBuy Member Number: 808 Days Solicited: 21+ Days for Solicitation Notice Solicitation Posting Date: 3/26/2024 Response Due Date: 4/26/2024 Last Modified: 3/26/2024 9:44 am Solicitation Description: The State of Texas, by and through the Texas Historical Commission (THC), seeks sealed Request for Proposals (RFP) from qualified firms to detail an Indigenous approach to exhibit development and artifact care, specifically geared toward small museums in Texas. In collaboration with THC, Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), and a Tribal Advisory Group, the successful respondent will develop a workbook discussing exhibit design and artifact care incorporating Indigenous perspectives, Traditional Knowledge, and ways of knowing. This workbook will cover the entire exhibit development process including aesthetic, narrative and visitor experience which will enable small museums to update their exhibits in-house. Additionally, sections of the workbook will focus on topics specifically related to TxDOT’s mission, including how museums can work with archeological collections from curatorial facilities, creating exhibits that reflect native histories more accurately and are more accessible to both Tribal members and the general public. The workbook will highlight artifacts and other examples from some of TxDOT’s past archeological investigations.
