Headquarters Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (HQ SACT) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to inform authors of the opportunity to submit articles for publication in the NATO Legal Gazette Issue 43, Legal Aspects of Climate Change Impacts on International Security.  The NATO Legal Gazette contains thematically organized articles written by authors who are military or civilian legal personnel working at NATO or in the governments of NATO and partner nations, as well as authors in academia and industry. Its purpose is to share articles of significance for the NATO and national legal communities and connect legal professionals of the Alliance, including Alliance nations.  Issue 43 will address the legal aspects of this important international security issue. Topics may include the legal environments regarding emissions regulation regimes, climate change compacts and international relations, NATO’s carbon footprint, maritime impacts of sea level rise, competition for resources tied to climate change, mass migration resulting from sea level rise, the changing strategic calculus of the Arctic, economic impacts of climate change leading to security challenges, multilateral climate change instruments and agreements, and the impacts of climate change on strategic futures and capability development. Policy pieces are welcome so long as there is a nexus to international and/or national law and legal regimes. The RFI is attached. Do NOT submit your responses to the Department of Commerce. Please send all responses via email to the points of contact identified in the RFI. Responses are due no later than 28 January 2022.HQ SACT’s reference for this RFI is RFI-ACT-SACT-22-08 and all correspondence and submissions concerning this matter should reference this
