Deployable Flight Incident Recorder (DFIR)

The Naval Air Systems Command intends to award a firm fixed price contract to DRS Leonardo (Canada) for Deployable Flight Incident Recording Set (DFIRS) retrofit installation kits under ECP 6273 to support PMA-265, the Program Office for F/A-18E/F and EA-18G Aircraft. The DFIRS system consists of three Weapons Replaceable Assemblies (WRAs). The anticipated contract will consist of a base year and four option years (FRP-1 through FRP-5) during fiscal years 2020-2024.This acquisition is being pursued on a sole source basis under the statutory authority of 10 USC 2304 (C) (1) as implemented by Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1, “Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.” DRS Leonardo (Canada) is the Original Equipment Manufacturer of the F/A-18 DFIR, and as such possesses the requisite technical data, knowledge, and special skills regarding the design and operation (including aircraft data collection and homing beacon) to meet the Navy’s requirements. This announcement is for informational purposes only.
