The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Glenn Research Center (GRC) is seeking responses from any interested businesses for the purposes of determining the appropriate level of competition for a potential acquisition, including subcontracting goals, North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code, and capabilities information from potential offerors. The purpose of this sources sought notice (SSN) and Request for Information (RFI) is for market research, informational and planning purposes only related to the potential procurement of 10x10 Abe Silverstein Supersonic Wind Tunnel (referred to hereafter as “the 10x10”) expansion joint. This is not a request for proposal or RFP. No proposals are to be submitted in response to this notice. Any information, specifications, and/or drawings are subject to change and will be updated and released if/when a solicitation is issue. The 10x10 is designed to test supersonic propulsion components such as inlets and nozzles,
propulsion system integration, and full-scale jet and rocket engines. It is equipped to accommodate large-scale aerodynamic (force and moment) models and full-scale engine and aircraft components. The 10×10 can be run in aerodynamic (closed-loop) cycle or propulsion (open-loop) cycle. It can also run at subsonic test conditions in aerodynamic and propulsion cycles. Subsonic test conditions range from 5 to 240 knots (Mach 0.36) and altitudes up to 50,000 feet.Additional general information regarding the 10x10 is found on the following we page:https://www1.grc.nasa.gov/facilities/10x10/GRC is seeking information regarding replacement of the existing expansion joint within the 10x10.General Specifications are below.Nominal Size/I.D.
