Job Description:The PTA Program Coordinator provides effective leadership for the program including, but not limited to, responsibility for communication, program assessment and planning, fiscal reporting, and program evaluation. PTA faculty provides classroom and laboratory instruction, supervision and evaluation to students seeking an associate degree in the physical therapist assistant program. The Program Coordinator participates in the formal and comprehensive assessment of all components of the program and supervises the development of instructional materials, assists in conducting research on the effectiveness of the instructional program consistent with the philosophy and objectives of the college. The Program Coordinator is also responsible for the preparation of reports required by accreditation and governing agencies including development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and program policies. The Coordinator needs to maintain professional credentials and should demonstrate commitment to lifelong growth and development. The outgoing PTA Program Coordinator will mentor the new hire in the role of the Program Coordinator position. Participation in shared college and program governance as evidenced by serving on college committees as elected or appointed. Responsible for student advising, college service, community service, and professional development in accordance with MCCC agreement. The ideal candidate is a collaborative colleague who can appreciate the diversity of the community college population, is innovative and adaptive in teaching, and fosters analytical thinking, clinical problem solving, and a patient-centered approach to the field. Candidates should use technology effectively to communicate with students and colleagues as well as to enhance classroom learning as appropriate. The Coordinator demonstrates the maintenance of competency through academic and professional credentials, continuing education, and professional growth in accordance with MCCC agreement. Requirements:The Program Coordinator is a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant who demonstrates an understanding of education and contemporary clinical practice appropriate for leadership in physical therapist assistant education. These qualifications include all of the following: is a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant who holds an active, unrestricted PT license or PTA license/certification in any United States jurisdiction and the state where the program is located if required by that state's jurisdiction;a minimum of a master's degree;a minimum of five years (or equivalent), full-time, post-licensure experience that includes a minimum of three years (or equivalent) of full-time clinical experience within any US jurisdiction;didactic and/or clinical teaching experience;experience in administration/management;experience in educational theory and methodology, instructional design, student evaluation and outcome assessment, including the equivalent of nine credits of coursework in educational foundations, or previous CAPTE-granted exemption. Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrates excellent teaching skills including teaching using interactive and varied pedagogical strategies and teaching experience in higher education, preferably at a community college.
