Position AnnouncementVillage AdministratorDeerfield, WI (Population 2,515)Deerfield is seeking a dynamic and proven local government professional to collaborate closely with its elected officials and administrative staff to meet the challenges and opportunities of their growing community. Deerfield is an outer ring suburb of Madison, Wisconsin’s Capital, which is the second largest metro area in the State. The Village is ideally situated on the I-94 Corridor between Madison (10 minutes west) and Milwaukee (35 minutes east) and is a two-hour drive from the Chicago area. Starting salary range: $75K-$85K DOQ, plus excellent benefits. Village President and six (6) Board Members elected on a non-partisan basis with overlapping two-year terms. 2022 budget is $2.6M including Water Utility as well as four (4) TID’s with 12 total employees. Future emphasis for next Village Administrator will be on construction/transition to new Village Hall; development of Village CIP; development of new
business park; creation of new downtown community park and promotion/facilitation of residential housing growth. Require Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration or related field. Prefer Master’s Degree with at least 2 years progressive municipal management experience. Consideration of candidates with private sector or military experience will be made if they can demonstrate accomplishments that directly relate to the skills required. Residency is desired but not required. Desire a leader who has a passion for public service and has skills and experience in the following areas: budget development/management; capital improvement planning and execution; economic development; community planning (including land use and zoning); human resources administration; intergovernmental relations and governmental accounting. The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of both personal and professional integrity, strong work ethic, open and positive communication skills with a willingness to be active and engaged in the Deerfield community, be a great listener and an out of the box type of thinker.
