The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Life Technologies Corporation for the :Robotics Components for Tecan Fluent 1080 includes Fluent ID Barcode Scanner, Multi-Channel Arm (MCA), High Speed Robotic Centrifuge, Q. Instrument Heat Plate and RGA Centric Grippers. This purchase will further streamline specimen processing to monitor HPV vaccination impact and HPV-related cancer burden in the U.S. population and subsets of specialized groups. A state-of-the-art advanced robotic system is necessary to capture HPV prevalence more efficiently as specimen collections have increased in CVDB. Furthermore, automation increases staff safety by eliminating manual processing of specimens with blood-borne pathogens.TECAN U.S. is the manufacturer and sole source provider of the required parts for the Fluent 1080 workstation. After thorough research on instrumentation, CVDB has found the Tecan parts to be the only parts capable

and or approved by Tecan U.S. to automate existing protocols for specimen handling and processing..  The North American Industry Classification System code for this procurement is 423490 “Other Professional Equipment and Supplies Merchant Wholesalers”.
