Z--Removal and Installation of Well Pump

Notice of Intent This is a notice of intent to solicit from a single source. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), intends to negotiate a purchase order with S A Camp Pump Company, Bakersfield, CA for removal and installation of the existing pump in the Lerdo Well #4 to allow depth dependent sampling to be completed by the USGS as described in the attached Statement of Work. Award will be made in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.106-1(b) and the procedures at FAR 13 entitled, Simplified Acquisition Procedures and FAR Part 36 entitled, Construction and Architect-Engineer Contracts. S A Camp Pump Company is, to the USGS¿ knowledge, the only source who can quickly reinstall and program the pump in Well #4 in an emergency, a pump company will not only need to know how to install, wire, and plumb the pump; but would need to know proprietary information about the treatment system, if there is a failure of Well #5 while the pump is removed in Well #4 for the depth dependent sampling, as there is only a two-day water supply in the Lerdo facilities' water storage tanks. The purpose of this notice is to satisfy the requirements of FAR Subpart 5.2. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. However, all responsible parties may submit a quotation by the closing date of this announcement which shall be considered by the agency. No solicitation will be issued. A determination not to compete this action based upon responses received is in the sole discretion of the Government.
