Solicitation Description
The Hawai‘i Tourism Authority, an agency of the State of Hawai‘i, hereinafter referred to as the "Authority" or “HTA,” is issuing this request for proposals (RFP) to partner with qualified sports programs that will generate community and economic value and benefits.

Interested parties are urged to submit an Intent to Apply before the deadline as stated in Section 1.7 of this RFP, RFP 22-06. At the conclusion of the RFP process, the successful applicants will be responsible for implementing their respective sports programs. The successful applicants shall be independent contractors and shall furnish all management, supervision, labor, and any

or all other services, as required by the HTA. It is the goal of the HTA to have an executed contract with the successful applicants on or around June 2022.

Crowning The World's Best Riders In Hawaii. The Super Bowl of windsurfing. The most prestigious Wave Rider Title in the world. The best of the best qualify by competing across the world on the IWT Wave Tour, and then come together in this stunning FINAL on Maui, HAWAII. The Grand Final Aloha Classic embraces our powerful Hawaiian heritage, our Hawaiian surfing roots, and the Hawaiian spirit of aloha. Partnering with the Duke Kahanamoku Foundation to support the youth of Hawaii, respecting the pristine environment and culture of the proud Hawaiian Islands.

The IWT (International Windsurfing Tour) runs The IWT Grand Final Aloha Classic at Ho'okipa Beach Park on Maui's North Shore every year from late October (this year October 24 - November 4). Since 1980 our local waterman community has run this great event with community volunteer support, modest industry support, and occasional modest support from Maui County. Over that time the event has grown to become the most prestigious title in the world for riders, "It's my dream to one day win The Aloha Classic." Kai Lenny. "The best guys in the world compete in pretty much the best conditions in the world." Robby Naish, 23 x World Champion, 4 x Aloha Classic Champion.

We seek HTA support to elevate this event and reach its full potential. We humbly honour the Hawaiian people, by celebrating Hawaiian surf culture on a global scale, showcasing the pristine natural environment of the Hawaiian Islands, in every frame, of every piece of media captured, and broadcasting it to the world with the message of aloha, inclusion, and Hawaiian cultural pride. With your support we will secure the Wave Riders World Titles for the community of Maui, HAWAII.
