Opportunity Summary
The State of Oregon acting by and through the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is requesting bids for an electronic solution of the Agency's Safety Data Sheets (SDS's).

The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) utilizes a variety of chemicals in its day-to-day business. These chemicals range from low hazard hand soap to highly hazardous acids and bases. The on-hand quantity of these various chemicals ranges into multiple thousands of products, and the management of information related to these chemicals goes well beyond the available capacity of DEQ to perform effectively. An electronic solution that allows for more efficient management of these chemicals is required. This solution allows DEQ to:
- Perform tracking of locations where chemicals are used and develop inventories of chemicals stored at each location;
- Provide staff real-time access to Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and the information SDS's contain; and
- Offer the ability to automatically update SDS information about each chemical when changes are made by the manufacturer.

An electronic solution to the management of chemicals helps ensure DEQ maintains compliance to Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) statutes developed to protect the health & safety of staff when using or otherwise affected by the variety of chemicals used in the workplace.
