I. DescriptionThis is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR 12.6 and FAR13.1 as supplemented with additional information in this notice. This is Request For Quote (RFQ) for the purchase of an automated media preparation system. In accordance with FAR 52.211-6, Brand Name or Equal, the Government contemplates issuing a firm fixed-price contract resulting from this solicitation. The solicitation document incorporates provision and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 2005-94 and 95 dated January 19, 2017.The associated North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code for this procurement is 334516 - Analytical laboratory Instrument Manufacturing, with associated size standard of 1,000 employees.II. Supplies or Services and Price/CostsBackgroundThe Southeast Regional Laboratory (SLR) is a full service facility capable of performing a broad spectrum of analyses. The Microbiological Sciences Branch is the largest of the three branches that comprise SRL. The Microbiological Sciences Branch analyses approximately 2,500 - 3,000 samples a year which covers a broad spectrum of samples to include: food samples, cosmetics, animal foods, infant formula, pharmaceuticals to name a few. Media preparation prepares and autoclaves media for approximately 75,000 plates and dispenses approximately 45,000 tubes in various sizes annually.
