The NYC Department of Youth & Community Development (“DYCD”) is seeking proposals for the DYCD Neighborhood Youth Team Sports (NYTS) initiative. The NYTS initiative is designed to foster physical health and well-being, education/self-advocacy, and community cohesion for youth up to the age of 18. Programs may receive one or more awards dependent upon the information provided in the proposal. If selected, each award may not be for more than $50,000. Programs eligible for funding must meet all the following criteria:This opportunity has been created to support new sports programs that follow the framework set forth in the Program Approach below. This opportunity is available to eligible non-DYCD providers in addition to DYCD providers that do not have youth service contracts (organizations that do not have existing COMPASS, Beacon, Cornerstone, or Saturday Night Lights contracts).Provide team sports activities for youth under the age of 18 in underserved communities. (This includes

youth that are elementary-age and up, ages 6 through 17) Team sport” is defined as an organized physical activity in which groups of two or more individuals are in competition with 2 or more opposing individuals.Team sport may also consist of sports (such as singles tennis) where one-one-one play occurs, though players are members of a larger, competitive team.Serve in New York City (within the 5 boroughs).Have a child protection policy in place that includes adherence to local city, agency, school district, and state child protection guidelines.
