The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) proposes to renew Air Quality Control Operating Permit AQ0289TVP04 for the DeLong Mountain Regional Transportation System (DMTS) Port Facility, under Alaska Statutes 46.14 and regulation 18 AAC 50. Applicant: Teck Alaska Inc. 2525 C Street, Suite 310 Anchorage, Alaska 99503 Location: 67° 34' 27.3” North; 164° 03' 07.0” West; within Cape Krusenstern National Monument; 55 miles northwest of Kotzebue, AK Application: As required by 18 AAC 50, Teck Alaska, Inc. submitted an application for a renewal Title V operating permit on May 3, 2021. Activity: The port stockpiles and conveys zinc and lead concentrate produced by the mine. Emissions: The potential annual emissions of regulated air pollutants at the facility are: 28.3 tpy PM, 247.0 tpy NOx, 88.5 tpy SO2, 41.7 tpy CO, and 15.9 tpy VOCs. ADEC Preliminary Review: Based on review of the application, ADEC drafted a preliminary permit decision for the DMTS Port Facility under AS
46.14 and 18 AAC 50. ADEC will consider all comments received and make any changes ADEC finds beneficial or necessary to assure compliance with 18 AAC 50 or state law. ADEC will issue a final decision to issue or deny the permit after the close of the public comment period. ADEC complies with Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
