The Naval Research Lab (NRL) is posting a Request for Information (RFI) and seeking potential sources for planning purposes only. This notice is not a formal Request for Proposal (RFP) or Request for Quote (RFQ). No awards will be made from the responses to this announcement. The Government will not reimburse any costs associated with the development and submission of materials in response to this request. There is no solicitation available at this time. However, should a requirement materialize, no basis for claims against NRL shall arise as a result of a response to this notice or NRL’s use of such information as either part of our evaluation process or in developing specifications for any subsequent requirement. Inquiries for additional information other than that provided herein will receive no response.  Objective:The Naval Research Laboratory’s (NRL) Spacecraft Engineering Division is inquiring for potential sources that are capable of providing the research and development in
the area of space and aerospace systems and technology.Specifically, NRL is seeking contractors who are capable of supporting NRL in providing research and prototype development of spacecraft electronics and space/airborne electronic systems, to include experiment, mission, and space flight systems. This effort includes concept development through operational demonstration, and the transition of these systems and subsystems, as well as the support required for integration and operation of these electronics as part of the overall mission.The Contractor may undertake a wide range of activities to include spacecraft research, analysis, prototype development, integration, test, operation, demonstration, data processing and documentation to include associated logistical, administrative, management and support activities.  The range of that support may include management activities (including sub-contract management, procurement, and inventory control); preliminary planning, analysis and design; general systems engineering; integrated test efforts; and launch/mission operations support. The Contractor’s support to each assigned project may vary from any one activity to the full range of activities. Complex fabrication, assembly and manufacturing is a requirement of this effort.NRL asks that interested parties, at a minimum, supply the following information:Name of company, mailing address, and point of contact (POC);Telephone number, fax number, address, and e-mail address of POC;Business size and number of employees;If a small business, identify if your firm is an 8(a), HUBZone, SDVOSB, WOSB, etc.;Cage Code;DUNS Number; andInterested businesses should submit a brief capabilities statement package (no more than five pages) demonstrating their ability to perform the services required under this posting. Demonstrated past performance providing similar services should be detailed, if applicable.  The Contractor's assembly facilities MUST be located within forty miles of the Naval Research Laboratory, Washington DC.Submission of Information:All information and data received in response to this posting marked or designated as corporate or proprietary information will be protected as such.
