Distinguishing Characteristics: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Under general supervision, this job class is expected to
exercise some judgment within established guidelines in the disposition of daily activities. Essential Duties: Reviews surveying services project requests Works with City construction project teams to assess project scope, needs, requirements, deadlines, and the priorities of the City Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Performs topographic surveys, boundary surveys, ALTA/NSPS Surveys, right-of-way surveys, and similar surveys for the City Prepares written legal descriptions and exhibits Performs survey work, data collection, and compilation tasks for source data that updates GIS and real property databases Sets priorities for surveying services projects Provides training for GIS Reviews and verifies collected GIS data; reviews and approves field notes and data calculations; and reviews, evaluates, and seals all completed field surveys Handles quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) on all survey related work Marks real property boundaries; ensures that the recording, filing, and maintenance of files and indices of maps, plats, deeds and other legal documents as a matter of public record are in accordance with state law Maintains knowledge of City General Engineering Standards and Land Development Code Provides review of private development and CIP projects for compliance with City code and state law related to survey and boundary criteria Maintains the operation of the City's Continuously Operating Base Station (COBS) Assists with creation and review of City policy relating to survey standards Maintains and provides calibration of City survey equipment including GPS, robotic total station, and automatic level Responds to information requests from City departments and the public Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications: Education and/or Experience: Seven (7) years of full time professional level field engineering, surveying, or closely related work; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position Licensing, Certification, and Other Requirements: Possess a valid Arizona driver's license or obtain one within six (6) months of hire: possess an Arizona Registered Land Surveyor Certification; and desire Certified Federal Surveyor Certification and FAA Certificated Drone Pilot credentials Employee Core Beliefs City of Prescott employees should seek to uphold the City's core beliefs throughout their day-to-day business and with every customer they come in contact with, both internal and external. Skill in utilizing computer software (AutoCAD Civil3D 2019, Infraworks 2019, Trimble Business Center 5.0, Trimble GPS Pathfinder Office; Trimble Access; Trimble Terrasync) to develop surveys, designs, maps, exhibits, and reports Skill in using a personal computer and standard spreadsheet, word processing, and database applications as well as Microsoft Office and Geographic Information System (GIS) . Skill in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and reports Skill in solving problems Skill in communicating, both orally and in writing Ability to prepare and make presentations Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various county and municipal staff, elected and appointed officials, consultants, private surveyors, contractors, vendors, and the general public Ability to research and respond to a wide variety of questions related to rights-of-way, easements, surveying, boundaries, and City's GPS system from internal as well as external customers Ability to perform multiple tasks under strict time deadlines Ability to coordinate services and activities with other divisions and departments Physical Demands and Working Conditions: Work is performed in a standard City office environment and outside within public right of way and at construction sites Safely operates a City vehicle and variety of standard office equipment including a computer terminal, and telephone Safely exerts moderate physical effort including, but not limited to, lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling, etc. of objects and materials of moderate weight (50 pounds or less) Work is performed in a dynamic environment that requires sensitivity to change and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities, and needs Successful candidate will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include: Drug screening Motor vehicle records check Criminal background screening City of Prescott Contact Information 201 N.
