Request For Proposal – I-70 Exit 173 Water Quality Improvements

The Town of Vail’s Gore Creek Water Quality Improvement Plan identified the I-70 West Vail interchange (Exit 173) as a high priority area for water quality improvements. Currently the interchange stormwater is treated by sumps (sand traps) at most inlets and a 1,000 gallon sand/oil interceptor (installed in 1997) located in the middle of the south roundabout prior to discharging into Gore Creek. The goal of the project is to increase water quality treatment effectiveness, potentially adding filtration to capture sediment, oil, metals and salts. For this project the consultant will evaluate water quality BMP’s, develop a ranking based on treatment effectiveness, constructability, cost of install, and cost of maintenance of each BMP.
