***************Bid Due Date Extended to November 1, 2022 at 2:00 pm ************ The University of Akron has authorized the Department of Capital Planning and Facilities Management to request qualifications for Professional Design Services for the complete renovation of Buchtel Common, the primary pedestrian thoroughfare through the center of campus. Originally closed to traffic and converted to a brick pedestrian pathway in the late 1980’s,Buchtel Common is showing its age and is in need of a complete redevelopment. Also known as Academic Way, Buchtel Common is the key corridor that connects campus internally and to the broader community. The design of the renovated corridor should enhance these connections and sense of place in the center of campus. The project will consist of two phases, with an estimated total project cost of $8M. The first phase has a budget of $3.5M and an estimated construction budget $2.65M. As part of first phase, the A/E will prepare design and construction documents detailing the scope of work required for bothphases of the project, develop an estimated costs for the scope of work, and prepare the documents for separate phases. The Associate will provide construction administration for the first construction phase. Bidding and Construction administration for the second phase is not part of the initial contract and will be addressed when appropriate.
