INDUSTRY DAY NOTIFICATION(9:00AM – April 26, 2022 – Mobile, AL)Mobile Harbor Deepening and Widening The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, will be conducting an industry day to discuss the remaining phases proposed for the Mobile Harbor Deepening and Widening. The Mobile Harbor Deepening and Widening project includes the following navigation improvements: deepen the existing Bar, Bay, and a portion of the River Channels by 5 ft; incorporate bend easings in the Bar Channel; widen the Bay Channel to 500 ft from the mouth of Mobile Bay northward for 3 nautical miles; and expand the Choctaw Pass Turning Basin 250 ft to the south.  Placement areas for the new work material dredged for the proposed navigation improvements are as follows: Relic Shell Mined Area, Sand Island Beneficial Use Area (SIBUA), and the Ocean Dredged Material Disposal Site (ODMDS). The meeting will consist of a general session with a presentation on the project overview, status, and schedule followed by an open discussion/feedback period. Additionally, individual 30 minute break out sessions will be held, at the request of the contractor, after the general session is over. Contractor comments and suggestions are strongly encouraged.It is anticipated the remaining work will be advertised under multiple Invitation for Bid (IFB) solicitations, which will result in corresponding awards of “C” type contracts. Subsequent contract advertisement is anticipated as early as Spring 2023.
