Job Description:Position Overview: Under the general supervision of the Dean of Humanities, Behavioral, and Social Sciences, and in consultation with the Project Coordinator, the Human Services Program Mentor will provide support and guidance as students complete Human Service certificate programs at BCC to further support the implementation of knowledge learned in the classroom and best practices in the field. The Mentor will meet with students on a regular basis to support their work in various areas, including but not limited to: observing students in the field, sharing human services strategies and best practices in the field; assisting students to navigate the higher education system including coursework requirements; tutoring students in human services content as related to their current courses; and assisting students to develop executive functioning strategies and skills to manage personal, professional and academic requirements. Requirements:Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in human services or a related field. In addition to the above, all the following qualifications are required: Minimum of 2 years experience related to the professional development area being addressedMinimum of 2 years experience providing consultation, training, and/or mentoring.Demonstrated ability to use developmentally appropriate practice and to implement adult learning strategies;Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum development across all domains including individualization to meet the needs of students with a wide range of needs and abilities;Demonstrated knowledge of human services core competencies;Demonstrated ability to adapt strategies and resources to the student's learning style, culture, language, needs, and preferences;Demonstrated ability to assist students with development of academic and professional goals that include specific tasks and timelines;Regularly assess training or mentor session outcomes including the use of participant feedback;Demonstrated ability to apply principles and techniques of objective program observation and assessment. BHWET will continue to define the qualifications for trainers, consultants, and mentors funded by this grant and reserves the right to revise these qualifications during the grant period.
