NoBid Synopsis: The Department of Corrections (WI DOC) recognizes the need for its existing contractors and potential future contractors to have opportunities to be trained in service areas that WI DOC seeks to contract. Session 2 listed below is available at no cost (free) to both current and potential contracted providers. Interested individuals should e-mail Erin Thorvaldson, Evidence-Based Program Manager, at Erin.Thorvaldson@Wisconsin.gov with specific training session identified in the subject line. In your registration email, please include participant’s name, agency, job title, e-mail, and mailing address for materials. Once trainings fill

Curriculum End User Trainings End User trainings allow the opportunity for participants to achieve certification in the curriculum to deliver in a provider setting. Participants must attend all parts of the training. Please note that Session 1 was held the week of November 15th and is no longer available. Session 2: CBI-SUA (Cognitive-Behavioral Interventions for Substance Use Adult) IN-PERSON at WI DOC Corrections Training Center (3099 East Washington Avenue, Madison, WI 53704) Dates/Time: January 9 - 12, 2023 8:30am – 4:30pm The Cognitive-Behavioral Interventions for Substance Use Adult (CBI-SUA) curriculum is designed for individuals that are moderate to high need in the area of substance abuse and well suited for criminal justice populations. The curriculum can be delivered as a stand-alone, outpatient substance abuse intervention, or incorporated into a larger program (e.g., residential treatment). As the name of the curriculum suggests, this intervention relies on a cognitive-behavioral approach to teach participants strategies for avoiding substance abuse. The program places heavy emphasis on skill building activities to assist with cognitive, social, emotional, and coping skill development. Such cognitive-behavioral strategies have routinely demonstrated high treatment effects. The training includes introduction of material, demonstration of sessions, and practice with feedback. Participants must attend all days of training in order to be certified to deliver the curriculum. Targeted Staff: Current or future group facilitators in a correctional setting who serve clients with a substance abuse need. Pre-Requisites: Basic understanding of cognitive-behavioral concepts/interventions and group facilitation. Please note, to be eligible for the training, participants must be licensed in the state of Wisconsin to deliver substance use services.
