This project entails the conversion of turf to a drought tolerant landscape. It will include the removal of water-intensive turf totaling 11,600 square feet, and removal of bushes and shrubs within PWD headquarter boundaries. Turf will be replaced with a drought-tolerant landscape including 19 different drought tolerant plants, 12,050 square feet of gravel, different sized boulders, 600 square feet of river rock, and 180 square feet of pavers. A small wooden bridge is being proposed as an added feature to cross over a river rock design, an irrigation system that will ensure the viability of all plants, including existing trees and palm trees, and the replacement of a picnic table.BackgroundThe Palmdale Irrigation District was formed in 1918 under the provisions of Division 11 of the Water Code of the State of California to supply irrigation water to the approximately 4,500 acres of agricultural land within its boundaries. Under this Code, the District’s primary functions were, and continue to be, to acquire, control, conserve, store, and distribute water for the beneficial use of inhabitants and water users within the District. The Palmdale Water District (District) is an independent special district governed by a five-member Board of Directors who serve the public by division. Special districts provide accountability and a means to vote selectively and provide customers the opportunity to express their preferences more precisely. The most basic virtue of a special district is to allow citizens to customize government to suit their needs.TimelineRelease Project Date:April 9, 2024Pre-Bid Meeting (Mandatory):April 25, 2024, 3:00pm 2029 East Avenue Q Palmdale, CA 93550Question Submission Deadline:May 6, 2024, 6:00pmQuestion Response Deadline:May 8, 2024, 6:00pmBid Submission Deadline:May 15, 2024, 6:00pmContractor Selection Date:May 27,
