The trailershall have been subject to MASH test 3-50, 3-51, 3-52, 3-53, and occupant ride-down acceleration limits (Gs) mustbe in the preferred range of FHWA guidelines.The trailer axle shall be designed for highway speeds, heavy-duty torsion suspension type, mid-mounted within theunit.The trailer tires shall be of the proper load range, designed for highway speeds.The trailer must have an anti-rotational system to prevent the Trailer Attenuator from rotating
to the side or detachingfrom the host vehicle in an offset angles impacts, test levels 3-52 and 3-53. The Trailer Attenuator shall be rated foruse with a host vehicle of 10,000 pounds or greater. The anti-rotational system shall allow the Trailer attenuator toact like a normal trailer when being towed.Hitch:The Trailer Attenuator shall have a height adjustable hitch and be capable of attaching to and rated for use with thestandard NHDOT pintle hook (Holland, model PH-30RP51, 30,000#), pintle height of 26 which includes a thickx 32 wide steel plate. Safety chain shall be included.Lighting:The Trailer Attenuator shall have a trailer lighting assembly per FMVSS No. 108, lamps, Reflective Devices, andAssociated Equipment. The unit shall include LED brake lights, LED taillights, LED turn signals, reverse lights,and an ICC bar light. The 7-pin trailer connector shall be a Cole Hersee, model 12082 or 12092, or equivalent.Jack and Brake System:The Trailer Attenuator shall incorporate a single jack with lifting and static load capacity sufficient for the unit. Anintegrated brake system shall be included and designed to automatically lock the trailer brakes in the event of a hitchfailure.Arrow Board:The arrow board shall be mounted to the front of the unit (hitch end) per MUTCD (Manual of Uniform TrafficControl Devices) guidelines at a height of 70 to the bottom of the arrow board.The Trailer Attenuator shall have affixed to the frame a receiver to provide the mounting of the arrow board to thetrailer.
