MEDIA AND COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR-MEDIA PRODUCTION City of Watertown, WI City of Watertown has an opening for a Media and Communications Director. This position provides guidance and assistance to the Mayor’s Office and other City departments on communicating, researching, analyzing and developing information to assist in communications and effectively position the city on key issues. This position serves as a principal advisor for other communications planning, writing and multimedia production for the city and other top level department heads. This will be done through both coaching the Department heads on media related approaches as well as through the development of public information pieces including news releases, radio, television, presentations, speeches, social media, digital storytelling and other communication formats. This position will be responsible for developing and coordinating the communication media and outreach program for the City of Watertown. The incumbent must
possess a keen sense of the media and be able to serve as the main media strategist in coordination with other department leaders. The Media and Communications Director oversees the Watertown community's public access television station and helps coordinate, capture, package and broadcast Watertown events and messages. Will also be responsible for managing the department budget, strategic planning, and reporting. Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, and/or Public Relations. A minimum of three years’ experience in communications; written, social media, and/or video. Experience with Photoshop or similar and graphic design. Knowledge of video capture and editing experience. Knowledge of television broadcasting, whether in public access or commercial station environment. Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered. This is a full-time exempt position with hours as listed below: Hours from 8:00am to 4:30 pm Monday -Friday and occasional evenings and weekends as department needs.
