FY24-FY28 GAU-21 COMMON DEFENSE WEAPON SYSTEM

Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), Direct and Time Sensitive Strike Program Office (PMA-242) intends to award a sole source follow-on IDIQ contract to FN Herstal, S.A, Herstal, Belgium for the procurement of GAU-21 .50 caliber machine guns and required ancillary support equipment. This procurement is for up to 140 units per year, with 700 units across 5 years.The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of FAR 6.302. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within thirty days after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a

competitive procurement.FN Herstal is the sole designer, developer, and manufacturer of GAU-21, and as such, is the only known source available with the requisite technical knowledge, experience, and tooling to produce the requirements described herein to satisfy the Government's requirement.
