University is requesting proposals from Firms to provide Insurance Broker Services for inbound international student insurance and outbound study abroad insurance for all University travelers. The proposals will be evaluated by a committee selected by the university and award will be made in the best interest of the university. Other Details San Diego State University will select a firm to provide brokerage services related to the student health insurance plans for inbound international students and outbound study abroad students and faculty. The information received will be reviewed and used to select a broker to represent the university in this area. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, SDSU had approximately 3,000 study abroad students. During the pandemic-affected 2019-20 academic year, the University had approximately 1,600 study abroad students. There are approximately 2,500 international students on the SDSU campus. SDSU International Affairs will work with the selected broker each year to solicit and evaluate insurance proposals and to design a cost-effective full-service plan that is utilized and paid for by the respective student populations who choose to enroll in the plan.
