The Contractor shall supply a crew boat to transport the drilling crew and any supplemental supplies to and from the barge; a crane capable of lifting up to 25,000 lbs to load and unload a drill rig and supplies, if necessary; adequate dock space to load and unload necessary supplies and equipment including the drill rig, drilling equipment and supplies for use in the proposed contract.

The contractor shall propose the best drill rig and diameter borehole to meet the requirement.

At two locations at the site (approximately 500 feet apart), the well contractor will utilize a dual-rotary drill rig to advance temporary 6-inch diameter steel casing, and use a diverter to control the discharge of air, water, and cuttings. It provides a continuous representation of subsurface material characteristics by collecting data with computerized systems and sensors mounted on a drill rig. This project will provide proof of concept for utilization of MWD technology, develop guidance for using MWD technology in subsurface investigations and utilize MWD data in the design of deep foundations.

Singular drill holes are planned in upland areas that do not require USACE authorization. Singular drill pads do not require larger angle drill rigs. These upland sites can be accessed by helicopter without the use of gravel fill roads and drill pads avoiding impacts to wetlands. The additional Sulfur Creek diversion drainage ditches were designed as two-segments to limit wetlands disturbance of a single diversion addition.

The borings were drilled with 4-inch diameter, continuous flight auger equipment mounted on a motor driven limited access drill rig. The approximate Project No. SC11681 30 August 2019 6 locations of the borings are shown on the Boring Site Plan (Figure No. 3 in Appendix A). Representative soil samples were obtained from the exploratory borings at selected depths, or at major strata changes.
