The services may include, but are not limited to, the design and construction phases of runway extensions, runway safety areas, airfield pavement overlays, taxiways, aircraft aprons, airfield lighting, NAVAIDs, instrument landing systems, fueling systems, hangars, terminal site work, and other projects as determined by the Sponsor.
The site is located on the Southeastern side of Georgian Bay, or 11km West of Potters Landing, Ontario. The site is accessible by water only.
Its intended use is for early inspection, mission planning, and analysis of lunar landing and traverse sites for HLS and Artemis Base Camp. This application and the supporting toolkit built from DUST are used to provide distributable lunar environments and tools to support rendering and exporting terrain, multi-display facilities, and connections to Trick-based simulations.
MAFR consists of 70,010 acres and contains target arrays, Military Operations in Urban Terrain (MOUT) sites, landing zones, dudded and inert impact areas, threat simulators, weapons scoring systems, and provides Service Class A and C range capabilities. MAFR supports all DoD and non-interfering civilian agency training requirements.
